After Deep Springs

Though Deep Springs is accredited to grant Associate’s of Arts degrees, most opt against this option so that they can use their credits to transfer to another institution, in order to complete a Bachelor’s degree. Depending on where you transfer and on what you decide to major in, it may take 2-3 years of additional coursework to complete a Bachelor’s. In recent years, Deep Springs graduates have most commonly finished their degrees at Yale, Brown, Stanford, Columbia, University of Chicago and other well-regarded universities and colleges.

Some students choose not to immediately attend another college, preferring to travel, work or volunteer for a year or two. Ultimately, over 95% complete a Bachelor’s and more than half of alumni go on to receive graduate and terminal degrees.

Deep Springs’ ethos of training students for a ‘life of service’ is engendered in myriad ways. Common fields among DS alumni include: law, journalism, medicine, teaching, scientific research, university teaching, computer engineering, non-profit administration, and business entrepreneurship, in addition to agriculture, ecology and the arts. See the specific stories of Deep Springs alumni in Alumni News.
