Deep Springs encourages scholars who will take sabbatical leave within the next 3 years to consider planing a term (7 weeks) or a semester (14 weeks) at Deep Springs. All disciplines considered.

Because of our remote location, resources for research here are thin, but residence at Deep Springs can be ideal for the "write-up" phase of research.

Typically, you would teach one class on your work to a highly-motivated small group (3-7 students). The rest of the time, you have no commitments except to give a presentation on your research at some point. There is plenty of time for reading, writing, and long walks on the desert, free of the distractions of errands, preparing and cleaning up meals, and committe work. Furnished housing and meals are provided.

Applications are accepted at any time, but we typically do not make commitments more than three years in advance.
