Students enter Deep Springs in early July. The application process for each class begins the previous fall. Students who apply in the fall of 2016 will matriculate at Deep Springs in July of 2017 if accepted.
The first round of your application will be due at midnight PST on November 7, 2016. In the initial round, we ask for several essays, a description of your non-academic interests and activities, standardized test scores, demographic information, and official academic transcripts from any secondary schools, colleges, and universities you have attended (the Deep Springs CEEB/SAT/AP/TOEFL code is 4281; the ACT code is 0252).
Before you apply, please read the President’s Letter to Potential Applicants
The online student application for the 2017-2018 academic year is now closed. You may still download a pdf version of the application, although applications postmarked after the Nov. 7, 2016 deadline may not receive full consideration. Please make sure all submitted materials are legible.
In mid-December, you will be notified whether or not you are invited to complete the second round of the application. The second-round application consists of several additional essays, updated transcripts and scores, letters of recommendation, and an interview with the Applications Committee (ApCom). Candidates chosen for the second round are encouraged to visit the college for several days in the winter, in order to interview in person and learn first-hand about what it is like to be a student at Deep Springs. If you qualify, aid is available for travel within the United States for your second-round visit; contact the Dean once you have been admitted to the second round for more information about travel aid. While on-campus interviews are preferred, phone interviews are also available.
*Deep Springs is currently pursuing legal permission to become a coeducational college, but the legal process is lengthy. Unfortunately, we will NOT be able to accept applications from female applicants for the 2017 entering class. See Coeducation Updates for more information.
